Trisha DeAmicis Awarded Carey DECA Honor

The Carey High School DECA Chapter recently presented CSB Carey Branch Manager Trisha DeAmicis its "Business Leader of the Year" Award.

Headed by teacher/director Derek Cunningham, the DECA group selects the Business Leader nominees and vote as a class for the best candidate. Individuals selected for this honor participate in various ways with the club.

During the 2011-12 school year, DeAmicis partnered with the classes for projects such as the Financial Literacy Project. This project allowed a first-grade field trip at no cost to the school or DECA Program and also assisted during the Christmas in Carey event.

DeAmicis also served on the business panel for discussion on general business before three classes. She has also assisted DECA on its written business plans to be presented at competition levels.

"I like to be available for this group as much as I can," DeAmicis said. "Also, my service to the Chamber of Commerce is a direct relationship as well because DECA volunteers in many of the activities we plan. DECA is a great resource to work with. As honored as I am to receive an award like this - it is equally as honoring to get to see these kids work very hard toward the goals they create for themselves and their team. DECA Kids are driven toward success!"
